Falcons

Small to medium-sized raptors including the American Kestrel and the Peregrine Falcon. The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird, capable of dives in excess of 200 mph. Peregrines often nest on the face of cliffs. American Kestrels the smallest falcon in the United States and are cavity nesters.

During nesting season, the male Peregrine Falcon will sometimes bring back food to the female, calling her off the nest and exchanging the food in mid-air.

American Kestrels will sometimes hunt by facing into the wind and flapping their wings to hover as they search for prey.
